Cal and Jules were fantastic main characters and were both the heart and soul of this book. They were also surrounded by a great cast of supporting characters who provided inserts of humor when necessary and nuggets of wisdom as well. Admittedly, I adored Lucas, Cal's best friend and co-worker, and while I know a follow-up novel entitled In Dreams featuring Cal's brother Cooper and his fiancée Katherine, I really, really, REALLY hope he gets his own book as well. Oh, and let's not forget Tami, Jules's best friend and someone who was a bit of a scene-stealer as well. All in all, this book was so much more than what I was expecting it to be. From the writing to the story itself and to the main characters, I loved every single thing about this book and it was such a great mid-week read. As I mentioned, Cooper and Katherine will be getting their story told and that's definitely one that I'm looking forward to and I already have it added to my to-be-read list. If you're looking for a light but great read, go with Dear Heart, I Hate You. Five stars. ♥

This book is both adorable and frustrating. Well, actually the characters are!
Dear Heart, I Hate You is an instant connection. It's chemistry, friendship, and lust. It's perfect until one teeny tiny detail...distance.
The distance, the workaholic nature, and doubt are an invisible poison. But don't fear there is an antidote...You just have to keep reading.

only reason i read it is because i thought it was the other book with the same name!
bad book no plot just then having a long distance relationship and is having to fill in the fact that they have chemistry - so repetitive even the conflict wasn’t good
i believe the woman who wrote this book should either give up writing or turn to writing wattpad stories

J sterling and I go way back. Like circa 2012? I haven’t read anything by her since her baseball series. So I’ve had this on my kindle and decided to give it a try. Jules and Cal’s story was kind of an obsession for me. From the first few pages I was sucked right in to their story. You have two workaholics on opposite sides of the country. Surely, this love could not last.
Jules was at a conference in Boston. Cal lives in Boston but was at the same hotel. Jules meets him by chance and they immediately hit it off. I am talking Fourth of July fireworks. They have the weekend together then she has to depart for home, in California. They make it work the long distance thing. Cal comes out to visit her for the most romantic weekend and you swoon so hard over these two. Their communication, feelings, PDA, and hotness factor are through the roof. Cal has to leave to head back to work in Boston. Cal gets a little too into his head and thinks he has a solution for him and Jules. 37 days later, he comes to terms with his decision.
This was seriously the cutest love story. Love, heart break, groveling, and rekindled love. Jules is kind of my favorite. She has the perfect life and does not let anyone dictate her. Feelings or her heart, she’s gotta keep working. And she does just that. This was a super fast read and was adorable. Get ready for a little bit of a tumultuous rollercoaster…thanks cal :P

The story of Cal and Jules, where do I begin?
I am one of those people who believes in love at first sight. I believe in that instant connection like a magnet force pulling you to a person, with your heart screaming, "That's the one the one." That is what happened here with Cal and Jules. You can instantly feel the bond they have and to portray that in writing isn't the easiest thing to do--Kudos, J. Sterling.
***SPOILERS LIE AHEAD***
It was tough getting through Jules chapters after the disappearance of Cal. I felt her hurt, we've all been there before. Wondering why someone could just up and leave after your experiences together. this quote resonated with me, as I'm sure a ton of other women..
It severely hurts in the midst of getting over someone, and seeing such small things with the remembrance of them. I felt all your pain, Jules.
I also had an appreciation for what the book was written on. Hearts. The stubborn, lingering question of head or heart. It's so very cliche, but so very accurate all the same.
Okay. Cal was an asshole. Who the hell does that to a person? I was very confused because he was so secure in his job and all around, his life. But the one thing that stumped him, that made him so insecure was a woman. I'm sorry, THE woman. You can run and try to hide, but when push comes to shove, like J. Sterling says..the heart doesn't lie. I'm glad he came to his senses and took the situation into his hands like a man. He went after her, he admitted his mistakes, he fought for her, he uprooted his entire life for her. That certainly changed my mind about him.
Finally. In long distance relationships. It has to be addressed. When it's the real deal--it ultimately has to come down to who the hell is making the move. I actually had no preconceptions about who would be the one to do it. It was hard for me, I was rooting for Cal to win this one and have Jules come to Boston. ONLY because I can feel for Cal. Boston is a good hour away from me. There is truly nothing like the East Coast, experiencing every season..even if we all have a love/hate relationship with it. And I know how much the West Coast appreciates it (I guess not everyone!). It turned out, considering their careers it made all the sense in the world for Cal to make the move.
I really like to take the time to thank authors on my reviews:
So thank you, J. Sterling. You've created a beautiful story, with real life getting in the way..but ultimately having their happily ever after.
I can't wait to read the story of Cooper & Katherine!
"Nothing made you realize how much you'd been ignoring your heart until someone came along and smacked it awake simply by existing."

"Bourbon. Two months ago, I most likely would have ignored the sign or not even seen it. Now the word triggered something so deep inside my heart, I thought it might stop beating. It was so stupid, the way I associated Cal with the liquor, but it was tied to a memory, a minuscule speck of time that had come to represent so much more."

"Why on earth would I want to read minds. No. Hearts. Heart's don't lie. Okay, well, maybe they do. But you can't talk yourself out of feeling the way you feel in your heart the way you can in your mind. Hearts feel thing whether you want them to or not. they aren't logical, trying to make sense all the time. They just do."

It was alright, but Cal's perspective lowered my rating. Usually I like dual perspective but he was very macho.

Dear Miss Sterling, I am.... confused. Your writing usually gives the readers a hero who is alpha male, stable and mature. Oh yeah and swoon worthy.
In this book however,Cal is all that until he left Jules. For some immature reason. There is no background or explanation why Cal done what he did to Jules. The groveling is too short and I feel unsatisfied. It makes me more confuse. This is a very unlikely of you.
Meanwhile Jules is a heroine I can relate to. She is a career driven woman and have no time for pleasure let alone love. However her dedication to work is live shorted by meeting Cal.
Overall this book is OK. The story have promise. But the characters development is confusing. The insta lust/ love is noy helpful to make the story believable.
