Obsessed (and Sad It’s Over)
Oh man. I’ve been both waiting for and dreading Xander’s story since the beginning of this series and it didn’t disappoint. But now that it’s over, I’m seriously in my feelings.
Xander’s crippling anxiety convinces him he’s dying, and as we’ve seen throughout the series, Derek is the only one who can calm him during those intense panic attacks. Over the course of the other four books, we’ve watched Derek’s quiet presence grow, his bond with Xander deepen, and his connection to the rest of the Bertha boys strengthen. This final book is the culmination of all that.
Derek just wants to do the right thing. As a medical professional, he knows the risks of falling for his patient and tries to set boundaries. (Spoiler: it doesn’t work. I told you so, Derek. 😏)
I’ll admit I’ve had mixed feelings about Xander. I adore him and constantly want to wrap him in bubble wrap… but I’ve also been frustrated by how he treats those around him and knows he’s doing it. What I appreciated so much in this book is that we finally see him doing the work (for himself) and Derek supporting that growth by gently encouraging the other guys (especially Seven) to start setting boundaries too. That shift? So satisfying.
Because of Xander’s inexperience and Derek’s internal ethical struggle, this wasn’t the spiciest book in the series and, honestly? I didn’t mind one bit. Even if nothing physical had happened between them, the emotional intimacy and tension were more than enough.
Also… that epilogue?! Absolutely perfect. That’s all I’ll say. 😭
And once again, Teddy Hamilton absolutely nailed the narration. He brought Xander’s mania and Derek’s inner conflict to life in a way that felt so authentic and raw.
I'm not ready to say goodbye to the Bertha boys…but what a way to end their story. 💔💙

This book was the perfect wrap to the Accidental Love series. The main characters were perfect. It was great to finally see more of Xander and Derek. There were a couple cute little easter eggs that give a nod to previous books. As several reviews mention, the epilogue was tear jerking. This book was easily a five star read and incredibly bingeable. I do believe that this book series is best enjoyed in order, since there are so many characters from previous book mentioned.

Them not being able to date feels like something thay could be fixed and they were really dramatic. Their chemistry felt less than other books.
