5th and final standalone in this series.

Though this is a series of standalones, I don’t think you should jump in anywhere. You should read the books in order.

This was my most anticipated read of January. I was so excited for Xander’s story and the conclusion of the accidental love series.

I was very worried though about how Saxon was going to address and maneuver through Xander’s mental health issues. I thought it might be rushed or Xander might just be “fixed” quote / unquote. I should not have worried at all because it is done so beautifully. This book takes place over a long period of time. There is a couple time jumps (6 months/4 months).

Xander is his same crazy beautiful self. He starts falling for Derek. The nurse who helps him thru his panic attacks. Derek also feels some kind of protectiveness over Xander and is attracted to him. However due to his professional nature, he stays away. He can’t be his professional carer and his boyfriend. He sets boundaries in order to gain some perspective and space from Xander.

I am a firm believer in therapy and that people can only be helped if they want to be. And Xander needed to get to that point on his own. I’m so glad he finally but slowly started to realize he deserved to be happy and that there were always people who loved him. The transformation internally with Xander from the beginning of the book to the last chapter was incredible to see.

10 out of 10. Zero notes.

To be honest I wasn’t really excited to read this in the first place, and the situation between Xander and Derek was so much more fucked up than was even hinted at in the other books. It’s so uncomfortable and once I realized I wasn’t even rooting for them to get together, I had to put it away.
