I loved this story in the series. Set in the future when the grandchildren have grown up. We find that Daniel is still trying to meddle and has moved onto his granddaughters. The book is divided into three for Laura, Gwen and Julie. I found each one the stories really good and funny reads. Finding myself laughing out loud at times as they tried to resist falling in love especially when they found out about Daniels meddling. I also love that it gave us a chance to catch up with what happened to the family after Daniels story. Definitely a great series that I would recommend and read again. Xxx

Love this three in one book about cousins living together in Boston. My favorite cousin Gwendolyn the third child of Justin and Serena Blade
It was a good read for Autumn or before Winter. I liked the situations where an argument is developing between a man and a woman, and being myself in such arguments it feels good to know solutions that are win-win. Nora Roberts does very well in that area.
This is the collection novellas of the MacGregor granddaughters and their partners: Laura and Royce, Gwen and Bran, Julia and Cullum. Nora packs so much into each of these stories plus we get to see the familiar faces of their parents and are introduced to various other members of the MacGregor clan (many of their stories are told in future MacGregor novels!). I had such fond memories of reading these years ago and I was a little worried that reading now would ruin them but no! I think they stand up pretty well despite some 90's era chauvinism. This collection really displays how well Nora writes female friendships too! I first read The MacGregor Brides by Nora Roberts when I was in college and discovered the Romance genre. I’ve since read this book too many times to count. In fact, if you saw how beat up my copy was, you’d totally understand. There is something about The MacGregor Brides that just puts me in the holiday spirit and makes me feel very warm and fuzzy inside.
The MacGregor Brides is a collection of three novellas about three of the MacGregor cousins. Each cousin (Laura, Gwendolyn, and Julia) get their own story and they all take place during the winter and Christmas. My absolutely favorite part of The MacGregor Brides is Daniel MacGregor, the grandfather of Laura, Gwendolyn and Julia. He is such a character, and there isn’t anything he loves more than his family. But Daniel feels like it’s high time his granddaughters get married and give their grandmother (really, himself) babies to love.
Daniel is quite clever, but also a bit devious in his methods to get his granddaughters married. He obviously wants them to marry someone they will love and be loved in return. He knows they won’t go for being set up , so Daniel has to be devious to find a way for them to meet, and boy is that fun. I think it best to rate each novella separately because they are different stories.
Laura’s story is my second favorite in the book. Laura is a lawyer, and she works with her parents at their Boston Law firm. When Daniel arranges for a new security system to be installed in the house that Laura, Gwen and Julia live in, Laura meets Royce. Their first encounter is so funny, and I definitely laughed out loud. I did get a little bored with the Lawyer talk, but overall I enjoyed this story. It’s very easy to see what Royce and Laura would make a great couple.
Gwendolyn’s story is my least favorite. I would give it 3 stars. Gwen is a doctor, and she’s very focused on her career. Daniel arranges for Gwen to meet a famous author of mystery novels, Branson. I liked Branson a lot. He’s friendly, and smart, and he really understands Gwen. Gwen, though, was a bit too pragmatic for me (which is saying something because I’m a very practical person). But even so, I still wanted Bran and Gwen to get together. There is this Big Gesture at the end of this story, and I’m not really a big fan of those, so that is part of the reason I don’t love this story.
Julia’s story is absolutely my favorite story in the book, and the one I’ve read the most. There is so much personality and banter in Julia’s story, and I can never get enough of it. Julia buys and rehabs houses and then sells them. She loves doing it and she’s very good at it. She usually works with a construction company that does great work. But this time around she has to work with the son of the head of the company, and she’s never gotten along with Cullum. I loved watching these two come together.
One thing that always makes me roll my eyes a bit in all the stories is how open the girls are with their parents and grandparents about their sex lives. I mean, it’s not bad at all, but I can’t imagine being that open with my parents. Not that they wouldn’t listen if I did want to talk about it, but oh my gosh, I would be way too embarrassed, even as an adult.
But, I enjoyed The MacGregor Brides as much as I always do this time around. It’s an easy read, and it helps me de-stress. If you like cute holiday novellas, I think you would enjoy The MacGregor Brides, even though parts of it are a bit dated.

I enjoyed each story, the only thing is sometimes they seemed fast pace and not enough time to form a genuine relationship. But I was still able to get into each of the girl's story, my favourite was Laura and Royce. I loved the dynamic between the couple and the banter exchanged between the two. Overall, I enjoyed the book and the different couples' banter and how each story seemed to relate to the prior generation's stories (their parents).
Now that Daniel MacGregor’s children have found their own partners and are happily married, he sets his sights on the grandchildren they’ve give him. First up are his adult granddaughters: Laura, Gwendolyn (Gwen) and Julia. Laura is an attorney working for her parents, Diana and Caine MacGregor, at their law firm. Gwen is a brilliant surgeon doing her residency at a Boston hospital with a close relationship to her parents, Serena and Justin Blade. Lastly, there’s Julia, the daughter of the former two-term president of the United States and a renowned artist, Alan and Shelby MacGregor.
The stories for each are separate and distinct so it was like reading three novellas in one wonderful package. The cousins live together in a beautiful Boston brownstone and one by one, they unknowingly fall prey to their grandfather’s machinations. He actually did a great job as the men they eventually meet and marry are interesting in their own rights. Cameron Joyce is a security specialist who has a strong sense of self, very much needed to break through Laura’s resistance and stand up to her father. Branson Maguire is a successful writer of a detective series who was relentless in convincing an independent Gwen that there was room for a relationship alongside her career. Cameron Murdoch is a building contractor with a keen eye to the artistry of his craft that matches really well with Julia’s whose livelihood is in buying houses and redesigning them for later sale. They have to work together on what ends up being the one that she keeps for herself.
I really enjoyed these stories and this book as they were nicely woven together and flowed well. Each romance was compelling and Daniel’s interference added some fun to all of them, especially when his meddling was discovered. I wasn’t sure if I’d be interested in this next generation of MacGregors and the answer is a resounding yes. This was a fun reading experience and I’m ready for the grandsons.
