Broken up into three sections, this is the story of how Daniel Duncan MacGregor finds worthy mates for his three oldest granddaughters. After all, their grandmother worries and longs for great grandchildren.
First up is newly minted lawyer Laura MacGregor. The MacGregor picks security consultant Royce Cameron of Cameron Security to put in a system in the house where Laura lives with her two cousins. Royce is immediately attracted to Laura, but a few speed bumps along the way in the form of overprotective relatives, pride, and self-deception must be dealt with before they can get their happy ending.
Next is Doctor Gwendolyn Blade, a woman who was smart enough to graduate from medical school just as many are starting college. The MacGregor arranges for mystery writer Branson Maguire to consult with Gwen for research on his next book. Although Gwen originally saw her grandfather's matchmaking in the meeting, she later dismissed that idea, thinking she was jumping to conclusions. Poor Gwen, she really should've known better.
Last is Julia MacGregor, a businesswoman who delights in finding houses that need rehab and, once restored, sells them. But her latest project on Beacon Hill is special. This house will become her home. The MacGregor needs a partner this time, the father of Cullum Murdoch, their choice for Julia. Since Cullum will be the head contractor of her home's rehab, they won't be able to avoid each other. Sparks really fly between this couple as they love to argue and disagree.
This is more like an omnibus than a collection. Each of the women's stories are nearer in size to a Harlequin romance than a novella. While I liked all three, the last seemed a bit more rushed romance-wise. Of course, Julia and Cullum have more background, not starting off as strangers like the other two couples did.
One of the things I love about Roberts, other than her strong characterization, is how she can make her love scenes hot without tipping over into erotic graphic descriptions. She can do more with a look or a kiss than some other authors can do with the actual act of sex itself. I've read the entire MacGregor series in the past, but for some reason never could find this particular installment for years. Well worth the search. A gem from 1997! 4.5 out of 5.

I really liked this one. My favourite couple might be Julia and Cullum.

This was really cute. I enjoyed it. There were highs and lows, but overall, I don't regret the time spent on this book.
Though this was written in the late 90s, the love stories are definitely from that decade. It is a collection of 3 stories, the granddaughters of Daniel McGregor. You don't need to have read the previous books but it does add some background sweetness you might not otherwise get as one daughter from each of Daniel's offspring are married.
In each, Daniel wants to marry his granddaughters off so he sets a man right in their way.
Lawyer Laura meets security professional Royce when Daniel hired him to set up a system for the house she and her cousins live in.
Surgeon Gwendolyn meets her match when procedural writer Branson bases a killer off of her. While exploring her character, Branson falls in love.
Julia hates working with Cullum, but when his father falls ill, Cullum takes over as the contractor on her latest house.

Laura.
I loved Laura and Royce’s story. Royce installed a security system in the house she shares with her cousins. Handpicked by Daniel MacGregor; he leaves it up to fate. Both are not looking for relationships and are happy with the way their lives are going. Fate has a funny way of showing us that life has more to offer. I really enjoyed seeing Caine and Diana’s children in this story. The more I see of the family, the more I fall in love with them.
Gwen.
Gwen and Branson’s story was the most romantic Christmas story. Branson being a writer recruits Gwen’s help in learning the medical field for his next novel. Spending weeks together their story slowly develops. She’s not thrilled that it is orchestrated by Daniel MacGregor.
Julia.
Julia and Cullum finish off the book with their story. Cullum works as a contractor for her house. They fight like dogs and have for years. Both stubborn and driven, they work well together. Until they end up acting on the attraction. Daniel and Michael, plot well together.
Daniel MacGregor can’t help meddling in his children or grandchildren’s lives. If he didn’t, we wouldn’t have these sweet love stories. I love seeing the generations of MacGregors and what happened to their lives. I am so loving this series.

Honestly, this was one of the worst things I have ever read. It was so boring and choppy and unbelievable that I feel like this had to be published as a joke, because if someone actually thought this was decent, much less good, they probably have a degree of brain damage.

I love the MacGregor family! This was the perfect book to get me in a holiday mood, although I don't know if I would be happy or mad to find out my grandfather was plotting to get me married (especially if it worked out).
