I believed the hype and it did not stand up to it. I didn't enjoy it and felt it predictable and laborious. I couldn't find any character to like and therefore lost interest in the story.
I think I would've enjoyed if the book more if it were shorter, honestly. I started out liking the quirkiness of Allan's adventures and the writing style. There were moments where I'd chuckle slightly. Quarter way through, I found the whole thing to get stale fast. I paused my read half way through and found it hard to continue. I hate speed reading, but I hate not finishing a book more. So I speed read and skipped a lot of parts, especially his past with famous figures. Idk, I kind of wanted a Verne-esque adventure but everything felt too flat for me.

This book came with so much hype and positive recommendations! Boy, what a disappointment.
For me, it just seemed to drag on and on, making it a chore to continue reading. There wasn't enough meaningful character development for me to care about the story, and the plot moved far too slowly to keep me engaged. This book received one star only because I cannot award zero, as I failed to finish reading it. Some may enjoy it, but it definitely wasn't for me!
