I enjoyed this book. I loved the vibe it gave off, kind of Agatha Christie-esque in its narration.
It was a bit of a grower … hence 4 stars. I took a while to get into it.
Nothing earth shatteringly unique but quite a nice romp nonetheless.

Really enjoyed this book, it had me hooked!

This book had me at locked room. It's one my favourite kinds of mystery story so I was hopeful that this was going to deliver on all of my expectations. Spoiler alert; it did! I absolutely loved it.

I was hooked as soon as these characters arrived in Italy and made their way to Lake Garda. The setting was absolutely beautiful and I spent the hours I was reading wanting to be on a boat on Lake Garda; just without the murder and annoying characters.

The plot was so satisfying. I'm not a mystery sleuth who makes notes and tries to solve the mystery as they go. Firstly, I'm not smart enough and secondly if the book is good, I end up just getting lost in the story. So I was swept away and the wool was pulled over my eyes. I missed so many bits that should have lead me to who the killer was, until the very end when it all made sense to me. For me; this is exactly what I want from a murder mystery.

Characters wise; there were few that I was able to like. Most of them were self entitled, spoilt and annoying; all of this in a good way. I enjoyed being aggravated by them and picking apart their personalities. I did however like Robin a lot. She was the only one that I could actually get behind and sympathise with. She was also the only one that didn't do anything that made me cast doubt on her (despite some of the others doing so).

One of the quotes on the cover of this book was "Heir to Christie" (it was said by the Daily Mail. but we'll overlook that detail). I have to agree that this book was very Christie-esque, with a modern spin on it. It kept me guessing, I couldn't put it down when it started and it was oozing with twists, turns and exciting reveals.

Mixed feelings on this one. For context, I loved A Fatal Crossing, and enjoyed his second book but guessed the killer the minute they were introduced so it wasn't as good a read for me. I waited for this one in paperback because I was unsure.
It was OK - I enjoyed the setting and the plot was fine, although I did again guess the killer (thankfully not as early as last time). But most of the characters were awful - and unlikeable is fine as long as they're interesting, but they weren't really, apart from the main character Robyn who was OK. Everyone else was irritating and 2D, and
near the end when someone almost gets killed I really wanted them to be killed, because they had no redeeming features and I just didn't care.

It was a really quick read but not amazing, and probably too similar to The Guest List by Lucy Foley. I'm unsure whether I'd pick up his next book as they seem to be getting worse as they go on.

An easy summer read, a classic whodunnit, engaging but not too complex. I don't read a lot of murder mysteries so I'm not sure if it was as easy to guess who did it as some others here suggest. But I didn't know until it was revealed. So consider me entertained.
