Unbreakable

This was such a surprise! The story is told in both current day and the past, weaving the love story of Dylan and Jeanine. In one timeline they are falling in love fast and furious and then sudden navigating loss. In the other timeline, they have recently moved and are both feeling the challenges that come with that.

This is a really beautiful story that covers some really tough content. Please check your content warnings. But these heavy themes are handled with a lot of tact and care. The writing is beautiful and the author is both careful and fair to both MCs. Neither of them is "the bad guy" but both have to grow and adapt during the story. Even if you don't usually read marriage in trouble romances, I would recommend you give this one a try!

This book was raw and real and heartbreaking and hopeful and I loved it. So many feelings. It’s just so real that I cried thru most of it. A book that makes you feel seen. Dylan and Jeanine love each other fiercely, but love doesn’t keep a marriage together. Work does. This book shows how deep you can love, but still need more. How being a person apart from being a parent and a partner is just as important and how we sometimes forget to “see” the other person. Thank you to Dani for letting me beta and ARC read this book!

This book was so relatable! It shows us [in written form] the effects certain scenarios can have on a relationship, especially a marriage.

Dylan and Jeanine <Jeannie> have been through a lot, but Unbreakable shows us that there is hope. No conflict or challenges are too big to just quit on a marriage.

Hats off to both of them for trying their hardest to keep things going, even though, they were met with even more challenges at every turn.

I commend the author for taking such a popular scenario and giving us the realness behind the scenes. 👏🏽

Welp .... this one took me a bit to finish. For a good part of the book my main emotion was frustration on the MMC. Dani you did such a great job with this one.

I've read plenty of books by now but they have all been focused on a very fictional world. From fantasy romance to mafia romance to dystopian romance but this one just felt very very real specially because this one was more about what happens after your characters get their HEA at the end of the story.

Again, this one took me way longer to finish. There were a lot of areas that resonated with my personal life and I'm pretty sure with a lot of others. When you feel like you don't have a voice. That you are drowning with responsibilities and how sometimes they will overlook those things. But it also showed me how having the right emotional support system can make a difference. How when both parties are in love things CAN get better. Will I read more stories like this? Not sure yet 😅😅. I have a lot of areas in my personal life I still need to keep healing and accept but I'm pretty sure I will not be skipping the next book in the series. I need to know whose story is next 😍.

I loved reading the previous series with the LA Princes and I loved seeing Jeannie and Sorrento throughout those stories but I never expected to read about them too

This was such a different book. You don't often see books about sustaining a marriage rather than the beginning of a relationship although we do get peeks at that too. It was so nice to see them reconnect and make their marriage stronger. It was honest  and real which made some parts a little hard to read. I look forward to reading more in this series

I liked how the conflict driving the book came from lots of small factors rather than one inciting incident as it gave the story a lot of realism as Dylan and Jeanine have been together for years when the story begins. There were a lot of emotive elements in here for anyone who is a parent or in a long term relationship; the hidden load isn't talked about enough and this book does a great job of showing not just telling.

I didn't connect with Jeanine as much by the end of the book as although she had her own struggles with mental health, I did feel that the finger was pointed at Dylan for the strain on the marriage rather than them both being at fault.  I also found it a little off that everyone assumed Dylan was the bad guy in the situation, except his mother but she was a whole other thing.  As we also see his POV I felt a lot of empathy towards Dylan, particularly when he called out that Jeanine treated him like a fourth child.  I would have loved to see Jeanine's version of The Plan too as I think Dylan was due some wooing too.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Dyl and J are in the thick of things. Eight years of marriage, 3 kids, and a move across the country to somewhere neither of them wants to be. When the marriage starts to crumble, will they be able to bring back what they once had in order to save the marriage they fought so hard to build?

Insert bitchy mother-in-law, a hockey husband who was babied too much growing up, and a wife with a mental health history and this get REAL, quickly.

Dani Galliaro makes you think about where your own relationship stands, and how you can go above and beyond (like Dyl and J) to fix what is wrong in your world. Dani, thank you for giving me hope. It's been a pleasure reading this book.

This was such an emotional read and a nice deviation from what I usually read. I usually read about the FMC with the unappreciative husband who's oblivious to her needs, who she eventually leaves and finds happiness with the MMC. This time the MMC is the crappy husband who sees the error of his ways and fights for the FMC before it's too late.

This is a marriage-in-crisis, hockey romance, with main characters in their 30s and is book 1 in the Ohio Rusties series, which is a spin-off of the Unintentional Puck Bunny series. You don’t have to read that series to understand this one, but it’s also a good series to read and some of the characters from that series make an appearance in this book. Those are more light-hearted reads than this book. This story discusses some heavy topics, so check the content warnings.

This story is told in dual POV, 8 years into Dylan and Jeanine ‘s marriage, with flashbacks to when they first met and the early part of their marriage. I really enjoyed the flashbacks, as they helped us understand the strong bond that held them together despite their current problems.

I loved the realness of the story. It took a while for them to get on the same page in terms of what was wrong in their relationship and even as they made the conscious decision to work on their marriage, they had setbacks, but their love for each other, their kids and support from their friends kept them going. I thought the mental health rep was written really well. There were a few things that hit close to home for me and I almost cried a few times.

It was interesting to see how their issues at work and in their social lives fed into the problems they were facing in their relationship and it made the characters relatable.

Though the mood of this story is quite heavy, it’s punctuated with humour, spice and cheery moments and a very satisfying ending that will warm your heart. And I highly recommend it.
