It was a 5 star until it was a 4 star towards the end. The first half had me giggling along, loved it. I felt the ending was a bit of a let down, but overall a good book.

This was fun, if you want a book you can read without thinking too much this is right for you!

WHERE TF DID THE PLOT GO?

I REPEAT, WHERE TF DID THE PLOT GO?

for starters, i actually am not interested in the very much simple world building thta this book offers which is just 2 people that are close friends since childhood experiences romantic relationships towards each other. Now after about like chapter 6 onwards, EVERY CHAPTER AFTER THAT IS JUST ANOTHER RENDITION OF A DAMN SEX SCENE. LIKE WHY DOES EVERYTHING HAVE TO BE A SEX SCENE, ITS LIKE EVERY CHAPTER FROM 6-32 IS JUST FULL OF FILTH AND Cash GRABBING FILLERS. however after that horrid stench of 2 or so chapters i never expected for a climax of the story to happen since almost all chapters just talk about sex..but it did. It had a climactic moment of the two of them 'breaking up' and it would be fine and acceptable if the story just ended there but the author decided to force the plot for it to have a traditional happy ending for de characters which e totally despise. Definitely not for me-too much sex scenes and basic writing style

Never trusting bookstagram again (claimed that this will be my fav read of the year… lol).

I’ve read better stories on AO3. Extra star for the Olaf reference.

Oh I'm so glad that I found this book! Someone mentioned it in an online forum and I pounced, and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is the second CE Ricci book that I've read - Iced Out being the other - and it's clear now that I pretty much have to work my way through her catalogue.

This friends to lovers is beautifully explored, and of course there are elements of homophobic behaviour, bullying and denial, but it's all towards the end goal, and is dealt with in a realistic way without falling into melodrama.

Aspen is a more locked in character, keeping his feelings to himself. His best friend Liam is his opposite, being more outgoing and willing to explore his sexuality. Neither of them want to rock the boat but given the combination of two hormonal young men in a college environment, it was inevitable. The push-pull, defend and protect dynamic between the two of them really made them two sides of the one coin, and I'm HERE for it.

The spice was spicing, their conversations were bantering, the heckles were heckling, and all in all it was a great listen.

Kudos to the narrators - Liam DiCosimo and Zachary Johnson, great job!
