My least favorite of his titles so far. It is a collection of essays he wrote for an English paper after moving back to the states. I think it’s supposed to be a curmudgeonly account of daily life, but I found it to be whiny and not at all as charming as his other pieces. Would not recommend.

Dated, but when it hits it's hilarious.

Hilarious.

Can’t stand his run-on style of writing. Exhausting

Bit disappointed it wasn’t the travel book I was expecting but all the same I flew through it. Good fun and very readable

Normally I am a Bill Bryson stan but this just didn't do it for me. It's possible that because it is dated his witty quips and observations are now redundant.

Fun. Bill Bryson being cranky and funny. Didn't realize he had lived in Hanover - I'll have to see what has (and hasn't) changed since he was there!
