finally decided to pick this up after watching A24's Civil War and it really just cemented the brutalities of war. Admittedly, I knew very little about the Vietnam War before reading this but I was shocked at the consistent stream of atrocities commited by the US throughout the war. If you thought the extent of the US massacres in Vietnam stopped at the My Lai massacre, pick this up. It's a brutal read full of disgusting actions taken by the US army from the soldiers taking orders, all the way up the chain to the generals giving these orders, to the government and press covering up these war crimes. Hard but necessary read to combat the US propaganda of the Vietnam War, referred to by Vietnam as the American War.

If you want to learn about the horror of Vietnam this is a must read. So sad that humans can be so mean and heartless towards others!

So heartbreaking, but so important. The author does a good job of describing the horrific events of what Americans did in the war without sounding clinical. I think this is an essential read, especially with the ongoing conflict in Palestine

Man, this was probably the best book to truly learn about the US’s atrocities in Vietnam, but it is so very difficult to get through. This one took awhile. Every trigger warning possible.

This book is a light in the misinformation perpetuated by the US government and sell out historians. As American citizens we should 1. Never thank but have service members grapple with this history and the atrocities they continue to commit 2. Learn this history ourselves and hold our country accountable, 3. Fight like hell against US imperialism. Fuck this country and fuck the US military. May it end during our time. Inshallah.
