An ex-musician finds refuge as a boarder in Meg and Petey's "boarding house" until two strangers from his past return to haunt him in this nightmarish dark comedy. Pinter's firecracker dialogue along with shades of absurdism and black comedy are at his best here, as Goldberg and McCann throw Stanley a birthday party that devolves into a violent game. Stanley becomes a tragic shell of himself that is paralyzed by his past demons, dragged out of the boarding house, as Petey yells, "Don't let them tell you what to do!"

Mildly interesting, but completely pointless. Not worth the trouble.

I think this was good. I read it in a drama class ages ago.

Unsettling, absurd, and strangely funny. A play you’ll be sure to think about and talk about after you see it.
