I was primarily interested in the caffeine section, but I was surprised at how interesting the opium section was! Mescalin was a bit boring for me, but overall the author's own voice makes this audiobook a delightful listen! It wasn't too long, and I learned a lot!

First Michael Pollan book I’ve read in 15-20 years and it didn’t disappoint. Interesting, engaging, and thought-provoking.

This book helped me understand psychoactives in a way I never thought I would, not thinking as much about legality but in my personal choice. I wasn't so drawn to the memoir parts but overly enjoyed the scientific and historical ones. Definitely, reading this book changed me for good.
