This one was VERY different from the first one. I had trouble keeping up with all of the facets of the world-building and lore that Deka was discovering/uncovering along the way. I heard someone once say that the 2nd book in a trilogy is often the "connector" book - the one that bridges the first book to the third and sometimes that can make it a little heavy or clunky and I felt like that with this book. It just felt like we were constantly having to change our understanding of the world as a reader and my attention problems make those kind of stories a struggle for me.

BUT! I'm still very excited about the final book coming out! I struggled with this one but I still am sucked into this fabulous story/world.
