To anyone who has actually liked reading The Vampire Diaries so far, and I mean the first four books, and would like to keep their opinion on the series do NOT read this book. I felt like I should burn it. It's terrible and it just NEVER ends. Just don't read it.
This was actually OK, I can't make up my mind if I e en like elana lol but it's a guilty pleasure this series so I'll be reading on.

Short Review: I have seen enough of the show Vampire Diaries to get the basic storyline. But this book? Nope. For one, is Caroline the girl on the cover? For two, is Elene died or not??? I spent the whole book trying to figure it out. Is she a vampire or undead or what? The lovely triangle is still going strong, probably the worst triangle i have dealt with yet but there is more out there to read so i'm sure i can find something more annoying to me.

Meh... They're good books. But they take a LONG time to get into. I would stick to the tv series
I thought that this book was a lot different than the first Vampire Diaries series, however it was still good. I think there are more supernatural elements to this one but I liked it and look forward to reading what happens next in Shadow Souls...especially with Damon! :-P
I think the book was ok but it was really messy in my opinion. I don't really know how to explain it but one moment you were at one place and the next moment you were at annother and I didn't really understand what was happening true the whole book (I have read the other ones). Some moments were also pretty messed up, and i mean really, really messed up so I don't really know how I'm supposed to rate this book.
I listened to half of this book before throwing in the towel. It is treading too much in the Japanese horror film genre for my tastes. Listening to the abnormal, grotesque behavior of Caroline as she scuttled through her home during a 3am insomnia bout was the last nail in the coffin for this book. Also, the reader was unsatisfying. I just could not listen to more.
I didn't know how much I could not like a book until I read this. What the heck? Nothing made sense, and I'm not even sure there was a plot. This series should have stayed where it was, with the 4 books. This book is ridiculous and it has brought me to a decision to never again read any vampire diaries book ever. I'm done.
