I can't even begin to express how awful this book was. There are no words. Worst book I have ever read. The writing was all over the place. The characters were pathetic...especially Elena as the ghost girl, and Stefan all mushy and lovey dovey and lame. I don't think the editor (if there even was an editor) could even make it through this book. At one point, the character Dr. Alpert turned into Dr. Albert for about 5 pages and then switched back. I had to make myself finish it because I just have to finish a book that I start even if it kills me, which this nearly did. Some of the other reviews say that they don't remember the first series being this bad, and that's because it wasn't. I read this right after finishing the first series. I just don't know what the heck happened in those 10 years. I mean, the first series was not Shakespeare or anything to write home about either, but it did not make me want to kill myself like this book did. I will definitely not be reading any more of this series.

This book is ridiculous. Shows me right for buying the whole book series just because I like the TV show.

OMG poor damon got possessed. i don't see why alot of my friends think he's evil. it's not his fault. my favouite part is when elena thinks damon's possessed agin but he isn't and he saves meredith and bonnie. it's so sad when he cries. i cried when he did (pathetic i know). it sucks when the stupid fox things take his memory away.

This book was really bad, I couldn't even finish it

This book was ok. It had great potential when it started, but it felt very disjointed and at times awkward. There were times I was reading and thought I had skipped a page because the book did not flow well. I also felt like L.J. Smith was almost trying too hard to make this a great book, but to me, she only succeeded in making it an ok book.

Poor Damon! Poor Stefan!
challenging dark mysterious slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

4,5⭐ Le iba a dar solo 4 estrellas por como trataron la evolución de Damon pero como se ve que mejoró un poco la escritura de la autora y hubo bastantes escenas de Delena (Damon y Elena) le voy a subir un poco el puntaje.

DID NOT FINISH

Did Not Finish at 72%
Although I did like the writing style better (I can’t explain it, it just felt fresher) I could not finish this book for the life of me. I did not understand the villain and it just felt like the plot was underdeveloped. I could have picked at least 5 spots where the book could have, and should have, ended but it just kept going.
Elena was also a complete disaster in this novel. Like actually a mess. She could fly?? Why? How? I am so many different levels f confused. For a solid few chapters, Elena just cried (more than usual), couldn’t talk, read or write, and went around kissing people. She was also treated like a complete baby. She wanted to kiss Stefan and he refused, just in case his GIRLFRIEND would be pissed that he kissed her. Don’t get me wrong, consent is important, but was this necessary to add to the book. Elena said the word ‘damn’ at one point and everyone lost their minds for some reason. I don’t get it.
Caroline’s character was also very confusing. In the beginning she seemed sorry about her actions to Elena and genuinely wanted to make up for them. Then she loses her mind when Elena kisses everyone. Then she talks to herself in the mirror in the middle of the night whilst wearing lingerie?? Then she starts sleeping around and hides under people’s beds. But why??
I am just done with this series, it TOO long and frankly, the show is so much better.

After rereading these books many times I've found myself skipping to the Damon parts every time I want to pick it up again. Because I've read them all the way through so many times and now I just want to read my Favorite parts :) This seems like the perfect place to mark them for myself.

Pg 295 - Matt and Elena run into Damon when he is being controlled
Pg 345 - Elena finally sees that Damon is not himself and is being piloted
