Review coming soon.

Cautions: three blasphemy; two coarse language; mild romance

This was a quick read, mainly because I skimmed most of it.

Honestly I'm a total sucker for anything Lois Lane, and while this book is meh at best, it's the characters that made me finish the book. Lois is in full form and honestly she's so great, I'm glad to see there's a YA version of her out there. Personally it had me jonesing for some adult!Lois.

Clark is in this as well, but he is, well, shrouded in mystery, and he plays more of a side kick role, but that was fine with me because this is Lois' story.

I don't know if I'll be continuing the series, personally this was a bit of a tedious read, but you never know, if I stumble upon the second book, I will be tempted.

I was really curious about this book since I'd heard rave reviews from several people at the BEA. And I'll be another of those people going 'normally I find first person really irritating but...' because I did enjoy it. She has a good voice, a nice mix of characters and a fast pace. Hints of Nancy Drew, Buffy, and Veronica Mars. Looking forward to the nest one.

This is fast paced, straight forward and fun. It feels like an episode of a TV show, and I see the jacket mentions Veronica Mars. I remember that being a show I tried watching and didn't capture my attention enough to devote a significant amount of time to, this definitely is similar. I felt myself reading fast and skimming over details that didn't feel important just to get through, it wasn't worth my full attention, just like watching a TV show while playing a game on your phone. It's not bad, and for YA it's fine, and just as good as some of the other superhero YA they've made. Capital F fine.

Something that not many knows about me. When my BFF Sarah and I lived together one glourious year of college we watch a lot of TV. Massive quantites and we loved it. We were grandmas. One show we watched a lot of on DVD was Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. Don’t get me wrong, there was a point when that show not only jumped the shark, but quickly flew over it and went to a whole new area. But we still love that show. We reference it often enough that I was fairly excited when I heard about this book coming out.

I enjoyed this Lois Lane. She was snarky. She didn’t enjoy sitting still. She has as solid of a life as one could have for constantly being on the move and she always got in the midle of things. I love that Lois had this softer side. Yes, she wanted to help everyone, but she also second guessed things. She was very human and was a girl I would want to have been friends with in high school.

You know when you read a book and you’re like “this book should be amazing! why is it falling flat?!” That was me throughout Lois Lane: Fallout. While I appreciated Lois and I adored the surrounding cast of characters, the book ultimately fell flat for me. I expected more from it. I enjoyed the fact that Lois was very in character throughout the book and there were hints to previous Lois’ incarnations but not enough that I was holding on.

This book is a terrific, fun read. Ms. Bond delved into Lois's character in a way most other media hasn't bothered, showcasing her determination and intelligence, while also letting us see her as a teen who just wants to belong - just a little bit. The supporting characters are all identifiable, but deep enough to avoid being cliches. My only (semi-major) quibble with the novel was Lois's relationship with "SmallvilleGuy," which was a little too one-sided and didn't seem to make much sense from Clark's side (why did he reach out to befriend her if he is trying to stay below everyone's radar?) The big finale has a few small kinks with its understanding of building security, but is emotionally satisfying.
++++++++
I read this book for a third time, this time to my kids at bedtime. They both enjoyed it as much as I did. I did have to edit it just slightly - the book's aimed for a 12+ audience I'd guess, and my kids are a little younger, but they still enjoyed the characters and the mystery immensely.

Fallout was a great read! Lois Lane a was strong lead. She voiced her options and tried to do what she thinks is the right thing. Want a new, fresh look at Lois' character, this book is for you. Fallout is a great book full of mystery and friendship and it did not disappoint!

I will be picking up the next book to read.

An interesting story, seeing things from Lois' perspective. Its hard not to imagine Lois and Clark from Smallville while reading. Well done.
