Didn’t like the subject matter surrounding the child abuse. Plot felt tired as well.

It has to be the worst book I’ve read this year. So much didn’t make sense. Fast-passed doesn’t cover it.
DNF - there is only one “Priest”
Nope, this ain’t the one
The writing is not good
The pace is worse
The plot is just so random??? Everything felt like a shock factor instead of intentional decisions for the plot
Honestly wish I called it quits sooner
Sierra Simone put something special in her book, this author did not find that something

This book was literally insane, why didn't I stop reading?
*spoilers*
*spoilers*
Religious trauma → fuck a priest
SA → incredibly rough sex
Self harm → blood play
And none of it in a way that made it feel like a realistic response. None of it done in the sense of taking back power or as a trauma response.
Also author would just like... forget what she was writing and then say something completely contradictory to what was just said? In the same scene, Eden removed her clothes twice? I thought I was having a stroke. Roman clutched *his* phone but it was actually Aiden's? Lots of continuity errors and some descriptions of what characters were doing just made no sense physically. Tied up but was able to be completely flipped without her arms and legs being crossed uncomfortably?
Was really hoping to enjoy this book after seeing it promoted by the author on IG. Scratched an itch, but not in the right way. I was entertained by the absolute bonkers plot (church is a trafficking ring?!!!) and shameless smut but I am so bad at DNFing books. I must follow through even if it stinks and this one was stinky.
This book could've been so good... I think I will go read
"Priest" now to hopefully scratch my itch properly instead of painfully.

Forgive Me Father, yes Father Roman. While reading this book I was definitely drawn to the emotional tension between Eden and Roman, and the way the book explores their inner struggles. Kat always does a great job of creating an atmosphere filled with "forbidden" desire, which kept me hooked throughout. I felt like the book focused too much on explicit scenes (yes I know it is a dark romance), with a lot of the story revolving around that. The plot was there, but it sometimes I wished I got a little bit more of the story rather getting lost in all the physical stuff.
As always I love Kat's unique style of writing and she most certainly knows how to build up tension. But I think Forgive Me Father just isn’t the right fit for me? I have always liked plot with spice on the side. (Probably why I eat up The Order series)
Overall, I enjoyed the book, and I'm always happy to support my favorite indie author.

Ok…why was I at the 90% mark STILL considering DNFing this?! Here’s what you should know: Basically we have dark religious spice with an attempt to wrap this in a child sex-traffic heist. Insta-love/obsession and absolutely zero depth. Anywhere. This one tried to be a mile wide but max depth was about 2”. Ngl I got got by booktok hype.
