Angst was top notch. Grovel sucked and was pretty much nonexistent.

It also bothered me that in the beginning he literally turns her down on the phone saying he just wants to be friends. And then at the end of the book he tells her he has always wanted her.

Also he loved her so much that when she called 100 times and then wasn’t around for a week he just put in the minimum effort to find out what happened? And then she said it was fine and he just gave up talking to her? If someone calls me that much and leaves voicemails and texts like that I would be terrified they were hurt or dead.

The Cassandra storyline went nowhere. I wanted that resolved other than “I didn’t know she would be here”.

A pet peeve of mine in these stories where the FMC goes through medical and emotional trauma because of the MMC’s actions is where the MMC isn’t slapped with facts. She almost died in the woods isn’t enough to tell him. I want to see him flinch when they tell him about the blood and dirt all over her when they found her. I want to be told how sick he feels when he finds out that she was unconscious for days recovering. Make him feel bad! He freaking deserves it and we deserve to see him feel like shit over his actions.

Needed more groveling. I was on board with the angst and such for the first 80% but the final 20%? Not a fan. He barely apologized and then went all “woe is me! My mate has denied me!” When he’s the one who didn’t bite her. Bro. MMC named Connor not beating the selfish frat bro allegations. Typical Connor.

My dumbest complaint is that, at one point, she leaves her phone with her friend in order to dance at a bar but then she can’t find that friend and events start happening and at some point she has a phone again? But we were pretty much with her completely for the entire time between losing it and having it. When did she get it back??? How did she get into her apartment because she also left her keys with her friend?????

Great start, very angsty. I felt the ending could’ve been more drawn out. She went from not wanting him to wanting him with very little change on his part.

I binged this book as quickly as I could. I loved the amount of angst and trauma in the novel - Mac's character was especially well-written. The spice level could have been higher. I'm giving it a 🌶️🌶️ out of five peppers on the scale. But overall I loved this book. Five stars.
