This book hit the omegaverse spot. It was angsty and emotional. I felt like I was reading a fabulous fan fiction that I would have waited patiently each week for until the author updated. However, this is a completed story and a standalone so I didn’t have to suffer through a million books for a resolution. Things moved quickly and wonderfully.
Lana always loved Connor but he played around. When the mating ceremony happened and he didn’t show up but it was clear she was his mate things spiraled downhill. Lana had to suffer and break her bond to him for three years. The crack that makes this awesome and angsty is that he never finds out he was the mate. He was just a dumbass who was wondering why his friend was sad and sick all of a sudden and she hid it from with drug suppressants. I was giddy like a school girl with all the forced proximity and longing. Connor, the fool, is obsessed with her but can’t figure out why. Oh you fool, you need to grovel now. As always, I want more grovel but this was pretty good.
I was having a reading slump and wasn’t enjoying a very popular book. I realized I needed to shake things up with an indie author and some omegaverse. Loved it. This was quick and perfect for all you fantasy romance people that lived on AO3 or wattpad or the forums back in the day.

The Rejected Omega kicks off with strong angst and the promise of a delicious grovel arc—but unfortunately, it never really delivers. The miscommunication trope dominates the story, to the point of becoming frustrating and exhausting. It feels like much of the conflict could have been resolved with a single conversation, which makes the drama feel manufactured rather than earned.
The plot itself feels underdeveloped, as if it had potential but wasn’t given the depth it needed to really hit. On the upside, the smut definitely does its job—if you’re here for the spice, you’ll probably be satisfied in that department.
That said, the ending falls flat. It feels rushed and forced, wrapping up loose ends without the emotional payoff the story seemed to be building toward. Overall, it’s a story that had promise but didn’t quite live up to it.

If you're an omegaverse fan, this one needs to be on your radar—especially if you’re in the mood for a gut-punch of emotion packed into a fast, addictive read. Just be warned: you’ll need to know the omegaverse terminology going in (rut, heat, slick, scent, knot, mating glands). These are humans, not shifters, and the worldbuilding leans heavy on the traditional omegaverse dynamics.
Right from the first chapter, this book hurts. The angst is palpable, and I found myself physically reacting—heart racing, gut twisting—as I kept turning the pages. That’s always my sign that the author has me completely hooked.
I went into this thinking I knew what to expect. I was wrong. This is raw, emotional, maddening—and so well done. The rejection trope hits HARD, and I felt every second of it.
Lana, our Omega heroine, deserves the world. I wanted to wrap her in a blanket and give her a hug. Her anguish is intense, but she never comes off as whiny or weak. She's a warrior. She's surviving, she’s stubborn, and her strength just radiates off the page. I was fully rooting for her to stay strong.
Connor is our Alpha. And... I wanted to hate him. The first line? “I HATED Connor Masters. Same, Lana. Same.
But then I got conflicted. Do I actually hate him? Do I want to? Yes. No. Maybe? The emotional push-and-pull here is masterful. And this one wrecked me.
This book leans more plot-heavy than spicy, which isn’t always my fave in omegaverse—but in this case? The tension is so intense that I didn’t mind. The buildup was worth every slow-burn minute, and when the spice does hit, it’s detailed, hot, and emotionally loaded. You may want to swoon and punch someone at the same time. (Yes, I was that emotionally conflicted the whole time.)
If I had one wish, it would be for an epilogue—or even better, a second book from Connor’s POV. There are a few loose ends I wanted closure on, and I'd love a deeper look inside his mind.
Sara Seller—consider me a fan. This was beautifully painful, and I’ll absolutely be checking out your backlist.
⚠️ Trigger Warnings:
Rejection, emotional trauma, mating/bond-related angst, and omegaverse themes (consent, power dynamics). Not for beginners—omegaverse familiarity is recommended for full impact.

Pre-chapter 18? 4 stars, maybe 5 just based on how giddy I was kicking my feet.
Post-chapter 18? STRAIGHT TO JAIL. I dont know what the fuck they did to my boy, but that is not him. He’s been replaced with a clone and that clone needs to be behind bars. Every single things he was wrong for.
I’m going to leave this here for anyone that thinks he’s a victim for not being told. 1) 30 missed calls and frantic texts and you couldn’t even guess what happened after you left your scent at the ceremony? Really? 2) leaving after scenting the ceremony is a crime in this universe for a reason. Criminal neglect. Literally a case for manslaughter.
Let’s go redo the whole last quarter and I need my boy back and self flagellating, immediately. I need him gathering evidence to turn himself into the police. He should be pathetic rather than breaking his father’s nose??? And then mma fighting????? What the fuck.
Lana this has nothing to do with you, you’re a delight. A shining ray of light in everything. The ONLY reason this isn’t sitting at 1 star
