DID NOT FINISH

The map is gorgeous in Labrinth Lost and it’s a perfect October book. The opening scene was magnificent, so visual and all my other senses were alit too. I could feel myself in the setting.
I love reading of different cultures unfortunately this book was too YA for me. I wish there were more plots that felt YA adventure based but with older characters and steam.

I loved this book. The MC was a bit annoying at first but she grew on me. I really love that I can see my own culture in this world. Growing up, I didn't have a lot of books like this so it's fun to go back and read them now.  Córdova makes it easy to picture the world, her descriptions give you just enough information to imagine things without being dreadfully long winded.

Most of the side characters felt a bit flat but I guess that's to be expected. I still loved them, Augusto and Madre are even ended up being two of my favorite characters.

This was a enjoyable novel, but I feel a little underwhelmed by iit. When I first started it the writing pulled me in, and I was really excited to finally be reading a book I'd heard so much about. It is well written, and the world building is good, it was magical and imaginative. I like that the romance was a sub story and didn't overshadow the plot and the family relationships. I ultimately feel like it was a enjoyable read with lots of potential but that was missing something.
