This was a great start to a trilogy. There was a lot of setting up for the bigger picture. I think this will ultimately be best to judge by reading the whole trilogy because there is a lot of foreshadowing going on in this book.

It was still very enjoyable. Awesome characters with a cool magic system. Of course, all the power dynamics that these fantasy epics have, it did well.

Quite complex as a story but easy enough to follow. Has quite a few tropes which end up becoming unique as the story progresses. The characters needed some work to have more quirks and personalities but Asha and Caeden are the most intriguing. The dialogue is fine enough but needed more variety. Worldbuilding and plot really drives the trilogy as a whole.

Nice! Amazing story, the magic system is well thought out. Fast pace, never a full moment. Great characters, everyone is important to the story, and noone is a chore to read through. Easy to follow, more characters get slowly introduced and the storytelling is smooth!
