This book felt akin to reading a mid-tier romance novel. It wasn't great writing, but I had a great time.

great plot but too much at times, no time for anything to breathe
Weak characters who get over everything quickly and understand everything the first try
Too much romance
missed opportunities to build more upon characters/to make the twists punch harder such as more time with Wirr and his father
The names are so similar and hard to keep track of
Used "recounted the events of the past blah blah amount of time to whatever character" way too much
Could have been 150 pages shorter if it cut out a lot of redundancy which would have left room for more expansion

I absolutely loved this book. The magic system is intriguing and the reveal at the end was unexpected. Also love any audio book narrated by Michael Kramer

Filled with endless secrets, betrayals and surprising reveals this was an exciting start to a series. The world and cast of characters is large, and difficult to follow at times, but I loved the multi pov. It was very satisfying after finishing the book to look back at my notes and highlights to see the significance of certain moments through a different lens. I’m very curious to see where this goes next.
