Convenient plotting and flat characters undermine some seriously fantastic worldbuilding. I'm hoping the writing in book 2 is stronger, because I need to know what happens next.

18 chapters of patience.... I don't want to invest anymore of my time. I had a bad feeling when I read for the second time in just a few pages "Let out a breath he didn't know he was holding".
Bad writing, mediocre worldbuilding and not believable characters.

I loved this book from the minute I started reading it. Only Islington has that ability, I fear. The only reason this one lost a star is because I got confused many times and didn’t have time to keep notes on who characters were or where places were as I read it, which would have helped.
