The Shadow of What Was Lost is a good book that delivers what it promises and leaves you wanting for more.

While the book takes time to find its place outside basic tropes, once the unique elements of the story appear the plot catches you quickly, generating questions around what's the truth around what the characters are living.

I found the characters the weakest part of the book, while I don't have any particular negative opinion about none of them, I felt I needed more time to really develop a bond with them. Even so, the point where each character ends in this book just leaves me excited for what's coming for them.

James Islington is the king of cliffhangers, the next book is already on my TBR.

Started well. Liked some of the ideas as to the world building but ultimately felt it too rushed towards a grand finale

3.5 stars for The Shadow of What Was Lost.

I enjoyed the plot of this book.  Good action scenes, pacing worked pretty well.

The main characters (Davian, Wirr, Asha, and Caeden) were just okay.  I had no feeling for what The Blind were (Walking Dead?, Monsters?) Not much characterization which is why I knocked off 1 1/2 stars.

Settings were very interesting- I especially enjoyed the part in Deilannis.

This was worthwhile.  I’ll pick up the next book, An Echo of Things to Come, at some point.  I have a lot of other books to get to first though.
