Lovely that no one mentions the fatphobia in this book.
"The womanโ€™s plump, greedy hands grab for the glass, jeweled rings glinting in the morning light that streams through the tall windows of Roseโ€™s parlor. She takes no pains to appear ladylike. Two gulps and I know itโ€™s gone. I think I even hear a muffled burp."
I'm so sick of people not having a better way of writing other than being absolute dickheads to fat people.
I do not believe that depicting something is the same as approving of something but this has nothing to do with showing the main character as evil or discriminatory. It is just describing a fat person as disgusting.

๐Ÿ“š MALICE is a Sleeping Beauty retelling that folds in a complex magic system and high society world. I was drawn in immediately, needing to know more about how the Graces' powers worked and how in a matriarchy the women were still held back.
๐Ÿ“š I loved Alyce and Aurora's vibe together and how they encouraged each other to want more than their lot in life.
๐Ÿ“š Some stretches of the book are a bit exposition-heavy, but as I said, it is a pretty complex world. I would happily read more novels set in other corners of this story.
๐Ÿ“š One thing I did find jarring is that several men who are described as either bumbling or evil are also portrayed as fat, and in a clearly meant-to-be-gross way.
