Chernow lays out a well researched and well argued case for Alexander Hamilton. Besides that, his writing is impeccable. In the past, Hamilton has been written about in very different (sometimes not positive) ways and it was refreshing to get this perspective.

Many reviews have stated this book is "exhaustive," but I would rather state it more thorough than anything else. I use that word because I felt the author laid out the details and the evidence in a very engaging way, which caused me to continue to get through this time in shorter of a time than I initially thought.

I gave this book four stars because I felt at many points, the objectivity of the author waned and bordered on lines of an apologetic tone. I could go into further detail but then I fear this review might become exhaustive.

But if the main intent of the book was to instill on the reader a different perspective of Alexander Hamilton, then it definitely succeeded with this reader.

An excellent, though one sided, account of Hamilton's role as a "founding father."

Great story, but exaggerates some things (Jefferson) and is quite slow and hard to read at points.

One of the better biographies I have read of late, but be ready for a LOT of information. Chernow fills this book with as much detail as possible and, on occasion, repeats some of it a little too often. But all told a pretty good biography of a brilliant man who is only now getting his just due as a founding father of our country. And while I don't agree with all his premises and everything he wanted to do, I do feel he ended up doing WAY more positive stuff than negative.

I’ve seen the musical many times and wanted to delve deeper into Hamilton’s life. This book certainly does that. Despite being 700 some odd pages, I didn’t find it slow at all. It’s very well written and researched. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
