I loved this book. Hamilton impressed me, Eliza impressed me, 18th century politics reminded me of our day- so much that I am inspired to believe less of what politicians and the media say about their enemies, even if tales are repeated ad nauseam.

Well done, Chernow!

sometimes riveting, sometimes more detail than my (admittedly limited) level of interest. Chernow can tell a story, and has a very clear narrative style. i was a little surprised by the extent to which the author was partisan for his subject - the biography clearly had an agenda of defending and burnishing Hamilton's memory. glad I read it but in no rush to read something similar.

This book took me almost a year to read with lots of starting and stopping, reading books in-between. Chernow is a Hamilton fan boy and there is not a negative light shone on Hamiltons. Important to keep in mind that Cherniw is a biographer vs a historian, which has been mentioned in other reviews. There were definatly some drier parts (hence the starting/stoping) but I don't think anyone can deny that Hamilton led a remarkable life and his fingerprints are all over our country.
