A cute, simple, fun read. Really did not appreciate the usage of the R word to describe Uncle David though. Unlike the movie, the book is set on the early 2000's around these times the word was definitely still used but mostly by people that had no personal experience with people with intellectual disabilities. The fact that Bryce, his family and his friend Garret, some being ignorant of the correct terminology and others being downright cruel, would use this word is understandable but Juli's family refering to David with such an insulating term seems really out of place, and I think it's a wasted opportunity to strike yet another big difference between the two families. I also don't think that Bryce grew at all as a character, you would think he would learn to look past appearences but even after everything that happened with Juli he is still incredibly shallow, the way he describes Jenny Atkinson is really cruel and close-minded, he gets annoyed at Shelly and Miranda for mocking her but he was thinking the same things just not verbalising them. Bryce thinks he changed but he didn't, he still a shallow guy he just sees depth in Juli but he can't put looks aside for other people. I know he is an eight grader so you can't expect much from him, but I would have liked to see him truly make changes in his life, not just to please Juli but to become a better person.

This was cute, and I loved the ending. The fact that people have spend years begging for a sequel is what’s greeley wrong with people today.

I finally officially read the book after watching the movie for the first time since ever. Talking about the movie it really follows so close to the book suprisingly tho there is some little details here and there that you can only know if you read the book but I think it's perfect either way.
I totally didn't expect that it was TWO YEARS of Bryce just throwing the eggs I got the impression that it could just be a month or two NOT YEARS. Julie's crashout about it and the sycamore tree is just so valid.
I love love Juli she's just so pure and a ray of sunshine (Just like how Bryce describes her) and Bryce is genuinely just a kid who's influenced by the people around him making him act that way but after all what's a character that's not flawed anyways, his development feels genuinely natural especially for a teenager and like how Juli said maybe there's more to Bryce Loski that she knows.
Mr. Loski on the other hand is just straight up bullshit of a character in contrast to Mr.Baker who just feel like such a sweetheart. I really like how Mrs.Baker and Mrs. Loski bonds and talks after the dinner which just makes me really happy and I'm genuinely suprise with how Lynetta and the Baker brothers bonds too which is genuinely good to see and lastly, Chet is just the MVP him smilling and stuff when Bryce just rants about Juli in his perspective is totally just captures how the readers probably felt reading.
Anyways I genuinely enjoyed this book alot and might rewatch the movie just to see all of the scenes I visualized come into life.
