This book was exactly what I hoped it would be, and even though it was comforting as I connected with a lot of what the author was saying (audiobook), I also learned a good amount and managed to have my own epiphany. I might have had two actually. I’ll definitely be purchasing paperback as well so I can go through the exercises (mental and physical).

I wanted to love this book, but some of it felt too stretched out. A lot was over explained. Could have been shortened into half the length.

This book just wasn’t working for me, then I realized the author has *zero formal mental health training*. Calling yourself a certified trauma practitioner when what you mean is you’re a certified athletic trainer who cares about trauma is some alarmingly unethical word soup. Somatic Experiencing therapy changed my life and I thought this would go well with that — but yikes. Coaching and well-being and reiki training have their own unique value but do NOT a clinical therapist make. I kept waiting for something concrete and got nada. (*cue tik tok nathan for you sound* “i hope you’re hungry….for nothing”)

This book will serve as a guide to anyone contemplating a movement practice, refining their current practice, or searching for a way to mindfully support their clients.

As someone who has experienced trauma and healed their PTSD through talk therapy and somatics, I know first-hand how beneficially the “Take Action” practices that Laura offers can be to the healing process.

As a movement coach, I have tabbed many pages as resources to offer clients as they navigate strength training and daily movement.

This book will continue to be recommended to my clients and discussed as a must read for strength coaches.

My gratitude goes out to Laura for writing a calm, nurturing, and supportive book that will remain on my recommendation list for years to come.
