I have never been a fan of when in sequels, characters go off on their own for almost the whole story and only come together at the end for the climax.

It’s been a while since I read book one and I have now finally continued with book two. I had a good time being back in the world, and back with the characters. At the same time I feel like for some parts of the story the stakes were too low, making me not care enough about the outcome. However, big things did happen at the end and clearly much is going to go down in the next book. So this one might be a slight case of middle book syndrome for me.
