Obviously I'm out of the target age range, but this book is just weird and rambly. And then it's over. I feel like there's major subtext I'm missing.
Sorry to all my friends who enjoyed this book… I actively disliked it. *Shrug*

Just all together odd, and sometimes hard to follow because Pippi is so eccentric.

A great read about as good as the movies and pretty accurately adapted. What you see is what you read more or less, with most details here obviously.
One day, someone moves into the big empty house at the end of the lane at the edge of the little village. That someone is Pippi Longstocking, a little girl who lives alone with her little monkey Mr. Nilsson and a horse with no name. Her mother is in heaven and her father raised her on his ship at sea, until he was cast overboard in the South Pacific, supposedly becoming a king among the cannibals. Her next door neighbors Tommy and Annika find their dreary days filled with adventure as Pippi includes them in all her nonsense games and whimsical adventures.
Pippi Longstocking often seems to be rude and imprudent, but her rudeness comes from lack of social graces rather than obstinance and her impudences from her incredible strength. It turned out she is as strong as ten men, a quality she uses to thwart the police and burglars alike, to throw the circus into chaos and save children from burning buildings.
Overall, Pippi’s world is one slightly alarming to an adult’s sensibilities and fascinating and fantastical to a child’s.
