I have not reread this book in so long but it’s so good i love these characters so much
First read in 2017
Second read in 2024
First time I read this book, I didn’t know about the world building (Grishaverse) and Ravka. Then the Netflix’s “Shadow and Bone” released and I’ve read the Shadow and Bone series. I think I should re-read the whole Six of Crows series.
The feeling that I felt 5-6 years ago is still the same. This book is so much better than “Shadow and Bone”. The characters and the banter are intriguing! The Dregs is so much better than Alina’s team.
Re-reading a book means you have a special connection (again) with the story and characters. I love Nina and Matthias more in this book.
Can’t wait to read “Crooked Kingdom”!!!!!
No mourners.
No funerals.

Really loved this book, had everything, drama, friendship, adventure, intrigue all in a well developed fantasy world
Six of Crows was... fantastic.
Granted, the writing style did take a bit to get into, but once I got into the groove of things, it became one of my favorite aspects. This book is not written like a fantasy novel. Bardugo wrote an expansive and brutal fantasy world with brutal and expressive characters, and then wrote it like a classic espionage novel, and it was so seamless.
I would die for Kaz Brekker. And Nina. And Inej. And Jesper. And Waylon. Maybe Matthias. He’s still a huge douche, but I think I’ll come around to him. The banter between these characters was the best I’ve ever read and really made the characters pop. They way they played off each other, and the relationships built over the course of the novel, were interesting and heart-warming, and heart-breaking.
The plot was... okay. It was a fairly standard set up with not a lot of new twists, but I honestly felt that was for the better. Bardugo let the characters do what they wanted most of the time, which led to some great scenes spliced between the plot beats.
Without going into spoilers, the ending was great. It is open, so go into it expecting not to have all the answers. But it left off right where it needed to and tied up enough loose ends to be satisfying.

Just as good the second time- I love this book!! The suspense, the heists, the romance she hits hard every time! I am finally getting around to reading the second one so this was a great refresher 10/10 love - this is probably the worst non plot driven review I’ve ever wrote but idc I love the book everyone should read it - top tier that’s all
