At times it was hard to read but I think it’s a good book with good representation of sexual repression and anxiety towards living.
I like the last three pages of the book, when the narrator and Sonoko goes to the dance hall.

C'est un véritable voyage au sein de la construction de l'identité du narrateur, à mi-chemin entre pulsions érotiques et de mort violentes (éros et thanatos). les références et images sont décrites avec une puissance poétique incroyable. fortement inspiré de la propre vie de l'auteur, c'est un bon moyen de connaitre et de comprendre Mishima. je recommande !

Beautifully written, though not much plot. This book focuses on the main narrator and his experiences as he comes to terms with his sexual desires. There is no set beginning or end, we simply see a segment of this man’s life.
An interesting insight into a war torn Japan, and the mental strain of a young, gay man living in it.

I didn’t like it much at first, but it greatly improved once Sonoko showed up.
I didn't plan to read this book at all, but it's one of the best coming-of-age queer stories I've ever read. Aside from Mishima's political views (as they're unjustifiable), he was a phenomenal writer: not only is this novel beautifully written, but also it makes you feel things you'd never expect to experience. To my mind, everyone can find something for themselves, no matter what your sexual orientation is. Highly recommended!
I originally gave this book three stars but I have not stopped thinking about it since I read it so it’s being bumped to 5 upon further reflection
