In this novel, Anne becomes the principal of a high school far from her beloved Avonlea. She holds this post for 3 years while Gilber is finishing medical school. A majority of this book are excerpts of letters that she has written to Gilbert describing her time at Windy Poplars. She has several adventures and makes lots of new friends. She is somewhat of an advisor to those young and old that she becomes acquainted with. She alos has to defend herself against the royal family of Summerside, "The Pringles".

I found this book easy to read but at time's a little to slow for my taste. I still gave it 5 stars for the reason that I love the stories of Anne of Green Gables.

While this installment of Anne's story was very good, the whole time I missed the familiar Avonlea faces. I am excited to move on to what her married life looks like.

One of my least favorite Anne books.

not my favourite anne book, i suppose because it was missing all the lovely avonlea characters but it still had charm and i loved little elizabeth

I wanted to love this book but it felt like such a snooze fest. I understand this was written way after the initial series was written but I think that’s the problem. It just doesn’t feel like it fits in.

And don’t even get me started on the letters. I could have cared less for them. I like the other books so much so this one was a bit disappointing.
