This book was very informative. It should be required reading for all people. I’m a fan of Aubrey Gordon’s podcast “Maintenance Phase” and a lot of the topics in her book are addressed on the podcast. I appreciate how much research she did and the list of sources and index at the end of the book. This book will make you consider your own internalized fat bias and ableist views.

I wish everyone would read this book, honestly, along with Fearing the Black Body: The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia by Sabrina Strings.

I’ve been following Your Fat Friend for quite a while and I was SO excited to read this. You know when you have high expectations and are worried that maybe you’re a little too hyped? Well have no fear!!

I am endlessly grateful for the work that Aubrey Gordon has done to help me continually face and address my own fatphobia and nothing does that better for me than a combination of research and personal stories/experiences. Tying in this issue with other forms of oppression was done in both an intentional and artful way. My only con is that the pop culture analysis was repetitive of an earlier section but that doesn’t retract from a solid 5 star rating.
