My daughter gave me this hard bound book for Christmas. She was thrilled, because we'd had several talks about several types of mythology, and the roles it plays in varied societies. Plus, it was a cool looking book. She also got me a flowered leather bookmark.
What she didn't know at the time she bought it: I'd had a cheap paperback version of this when I was younger. I'd read it several times. I loved the fascinating mythical tales, combined with what those tales revealed about ancient Greek and roman lifestyles, belief systems, and values.

Each and individual mythological tales are discernible and somewhat informative. However, the main problem arises from its final editing. I appreciate the effort for illustrations and all of that, but the parts here are disorganized, creating an almost complete mess of stories compiled in one book.
