This is definitely one of my favorites in the series. The writing was far better than I have experienced not just in Sophie’s book but in this series in general. The plot was good, and I actually felt an investment with the characters. It could have been that I’ve known the MMC since book 1, but the FMC was a better written character as well. Now don’t get me wrong there are still the slightly cringy sentences and cringy word choices made in the book but that is ultimately Sophie’s style it’s just not one I particularly enjoy so it affects the rating for me but it may not for you. I think she set up the second gen series very well in this epilogue. I can see why people enjoy this series and wish this style of writing was seen in her standalones because my experience in this series is vastly different from what I have read stand-alone wise.

This book was just disappointing and I strongly dislike it. It is 0 stars. I was excited for Sebastian's book but it was just meh. I skimmed a lot and that ending was ugh. Everything just felt too rushed, Sebastian was ruined and Yelena wasn't relatable or enjoyable to read after the auction... Sebastian should've had a college romance type of book and he shouldn't have been the last book IMO.

Spoiler - The book actually had a good start and the whole thing with Yelena being used as bait for a revenge plan was great. Her hating her dad worked just as well as her being really into the plan because she hated the Italians too HOWEVER, this was too insta love... Which is not like a big no-no to me since I've read and liked books with that trope but it felt weird in this series where, other than Dante, everyone took a while to fall in love and to come to terms with their feelings. By chapter 3 or 4 they were already talking about liking each other, like be serious.

- Sebastian just didn't seem fit for the mafia life. Which is fine and it was something that I thought from the beginning, even after Sophie started pointing towards him having an attitude change after his basketball dreams were crushed. He could've gotten himself a girl outside the mafia like the last 3 books or they could've at least not made this insta love and play more into the mafia aspect. Also, SEBASTIAN IS NOT MAFIA BOSS MATERIAL. Dante is.

- Yelena just wasn't interesting after the auction... The way she was described and her attitude before that was great, I saw potential because she came off as brave and confident... But then they started dating and it all went to hell. She also came off as being smarter but turned out to be a dumbass... We didn't see more of that which pisses me off because what do authors have with consistently confident female and smart main characters??? You mean to tell me she's grown in that environment and hates her father but can't tell when something is off?? Yeah her brother was acting weird but she just thought it was him hating the idea of her leaving, be so fucking for real right now... And she's no fighter.

- The wedding shooting was good. I'll give them that. When Enzo Gallo was killed I was shocked, mouth open and everything. And when Nero was shot all those times??? Yeah, I cried. I even cried for that Brody guy, poor Brody wasn't even in the mafia!!!!!!!!!! But who the fuck is he??????

- I understand why most of the Gallo's weren't present and Dante wanting to stay away was understandable but it doesn't mean I liked their absence and how they pretty much parted ways, like what the actual fuck???? I hate that. This was a terrible ending. This is some first book ending. Everyone should be happy and together on the final book. What happened here??????? I also didn't mind their reactions. I know people are annoyed but I lowkey wished they hated Yelena a little longer because I understand Sebastian getting over it because he loves her but the rest of the Gallos don't know her like that... it would've made sense for them to hold a lil grudge.

I will not be reading the Kingmakers series because I just don't care about their kids and this last book just ruined everything for me. But what pissed me off the most was how everything that was built in previous books was just ruined.

My favorite books/couples from best to worst:

1. Stolen Heir (Nessa and Mikolaj have my whole ass heart)
2. Savage Lover (I'm just so in love with Nero it's crazy)
3. Broken Vow (Riona is too big for Tennessee, get her OUT)
4. Brutal Prince (almost forgot about them while making this ranking)
5. Bloody Heart and Heavy Crown (just pissed me the hell off)
