I saw the movie first and laughed and bawled my eyes out. And I laughed and bawled some more reading the book. I'm glad I read the book because there was a lot of funny writing and good Marley stories that didn't make it into the movie.
Very sweet book about the life of a dog. Fast read, a good gift for any dog lover.
I bawled like a baby. This was a very difficult book to get through as a dog lover but it was very well written.
having worked in a bookstore when this first came out i never wanted to have anything to do with it. now a stay at home mom and needing something to pick me up a bit i finally got into it. it was need i say fabulous! grogan has a wonderful way with words in describing some of the most hilarious incidents i have ever read about. however i must admit i didn't read the ending b/c i heard it was pretty sad....

I only read up to page 20 of this one and I had to stop. I barely made it to the part where Marley came into the picture. I didn't like the bickering, "power-struggling" type of relationship these people had and I feel for any dog that should have to live with them. I can't even believe the writer was *pleased* to get to pick up Marley and bond with him while his wife was away. He sounds like a real treat. I'd never want to own a dog with that kind of selfish guy. He obviously cares more about himself than any dog, child, etc. Poor Marley.
This book has been on my list to read for some time. I recently attended a panel discussion for Marley and Me, which was sponsored by One Book, One Waco. After the panel discussion, I've moved this book closer to the top of my reading list!

Any book that can make me laugh out load is a winner. This book was very well written. You feel like you are there and can see it all with how well the author descrbes everything. I laughed, I cried, I laughed so hard it made me cry. It was great!!!
I love this book so much. It reminds me of my now deceased crazy dog and his many interesting antics. I cried hysterically at the end, but it was all worth it. It is definitely one of the best books I've ever read. If you love animals..READ IT. Read it even if you don't love animals! Maybe you'll grow to love them.
