Let me just start by saying I love when a female lead finds her way and becomes a strong women . I love how nolan turns herself around. This book made me laugh but it also made me shed a lot of tears. I know what it is like to be Nolan , to long for a boy like Reed and not be the it girl. This book was close to the heart for me . I love Ginger Scott's writing , she brings these characters to life. Let me just say that Nolan has more strength than me because there were a few times in this book where tatum would have ate my fist if it were me . I love Sarah , I want a best friend like her . I look toward go reading the next book.

I honestly don't know how I managed to get this far into the book. Maybe I was hopeful that it would live up to the reviews, but just nope. There is not a single redeemable trait about Nolan or Reed. This book was so dramatic, I was sure my eyes were going to roll out of my head.
Not for me.

This isn't your usual type of book.
It's a slow burner, as I'd like to say. Gradual, brewing, from the beginning your taken on a dance you can't help but follow. Nolan is a tomboy, she doesn't care about mascara and painting up her face; she's smart, witty, and easy going. You dive into Nolan's life, her friends, her family, her assignment with the QB of the Varsity Football team, Reed.
I have to admit, in the beginning this didn't feel like a love story, or anything like it. Nolan is interesting, her character isn't flawless, nor is she naive or misguided. I have a strong sense that Nolan knows who she is, and knows when its time to push buttons. Nolan isn't the most popular girl in school, like Tatum, the older chick that rules with an iron fist, with the pretty QB by her side.

I absolutely loved Waiting on the Sidelines.
In this novel we follow the story of Nolan and Reed over the course of four years during high school. I must admit I haven't read a young adult novel in well over 3 years I would say, but this was beautiful written and i loved every heartwarming second of it.
Nolan and Reed meet their freshman year, and it was butterflies at first sight for Nolan, which was adorable considering she was fourteen so insta-attraction was totally and completely believable. Reed comes from a wealthy sports family, his dad being Buck Johnson and his older brother Jason Johnson are both football legends in their small town and naturally Reed is next in line.
Over the four years were introduced to Nolan and Reed and how they deal with peer pressure, first loves, first heartbreaks, and first times. Their journey was both beautiful and heartbreaking, I literally jumped for joy reading about them.
Still being with my high school sweet heart (Im 21 now) It was adorable. I literally felt like I was transported back into High School. Every emotion, I could relate too.
I was a little iffy about the entire book taking place over four years, but it flowed so well you couldn't even tell. I loved that we go to watch the characters grow and develop and really find themselves over the course of the book. There was nothing I didn't like about this book!
I would definitely recommend this for anyone who loves, love, and wants to relive all their firsts from high school.

3.5 stars!!!
I love me some football books in the Fall! This book is what I like to call an all in one. You got your love, angst, broken heart, and second chance all wrapped with a bow. Our female MC is sweet as honey, while our Male MC is an ASS CLOWN! I stayed mad at him for most of the book wondering what the heck was going on in his head. He redeems himself but barely.... but all that bitterness I felt made for a pretty decent and addictive story.

This is one of my favorite books, I loved the audiobook as well. Ginger Scott has become one of my fav authors, and will be reading more of her work.
