I enjoyed this book, but Nolan really was far too weak. She didn’t have much of a personality and really let people walk all over her.

This is the first book in this series and this author captured me right from the beginning. I devoured this story
Ok. I've been ruminating on this for 3 days and I finally decided what I want to say about this book. AS A READER, I loved it. I loved it this much:

You know why? Because it's verrrrrryyyyyy similar to [b:Remember When|18043759|Remember When (Remember Trilogy, #1)|T. Torrest|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1371825413s/18043759.jpg|23743777]. And I f-ing adored [b:Remember When|18043759|Remember When (Remember Trilogy, #1)|T. Torrest|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1371825413s/18043759.jpg|23743777]. It's solidly in my top 5 books of all time.
I know it's possible for two people to have similar ideas independently. But guys, these books are SUPER similar in a lot of ways. I'm not going to say anything else, I'm just going to list the things I noticed:
1. Both of the female protagonists have weird names. Nolan is named after Nolan Ryan and Layla is named after an Eric Clapton song.
2. Both OTPs meet eachother in high school and have a class together. They are forced to spend a lot of time together because they are paired up on a project.
3. Both Nolan and Layla date boys they don't have strong feelings for because they can't be with the ones they do have strong feelings for.
4. Both OTPs get jobs together.
5. Both male main characters write letters to the female main characters that they save and give to them at a later date.
6. Both male MCs go through the girl's rooms the same way when they go over to their houses.
7. Both Reed and Trip give their girl a rose (though in RW, the rose from Trip is in Layla's dream).
8. Though for different reasons, both Layla and Nolan ignore the male MCs for a portion of the book.
9. Layla and Nolan both lose their virginity in a tent while camping.
And that's that.

But I love this book, guys. LOVE IT. LOVVVVEEEEEE ITTTTTT. I tell everyone that they have to read this series. These 2 novels are my comfort books. I can't tell you how many times I've read them because they're wonderful. READ THIS NOWWWWWWWW.

Waiting on the Sidelines is an incredible story full of all the angst and feelings!
This book follows Reed and Nolan throughout their high school years. Reed is the star football player; gorgeous and popular. Nolan definitely doesn't run with his crowd but when forced together for a project they form an unlikely friendship. They went through SO much in this book. I mean everything. It was written well for HS age and all the pressures that go with trying to navigate a relationship at that age.
Can't wait to see what Going Long brings for this couple!

Dnf at 60% if the book.
I remember reading this book 2 years ago, and i left it unfinished, till now. I dont remember why i did not finish it back then. But now i know for sure i gotta dnf-ed this book because.... bukunya bertele-tele banget sumpah!!! Sampe pusing sangking banyaknya conversation yang menurutku sangat unrelated the the plot. And dont start me with the jackass sappy unhappy sad little Reed. What are you? 7? He messed up big time and cannot handle life. Ugh. I hate him. I can’t see why girls are rotting for him. Except for face and money.

Waiting on the Sidelines is by far one of my most favorite Kindle books. I wish it had a paper back so I could share it will all my non-kindle-reading friends.
I’m from Texas so to have a character named after Nolan Ryan was a super plus, but then to make her a bad ass was an even bigger plus! Nolan is my hero, seriously. I love how she really does stay true to herself even when it was easier to give in and be someone she is not. Yes, she made several immature mistakes but she learned from them all and grew in character from them. Unlike a lot of YA characters we ready about, were the writers use those mistakes as handicaps for their characters and we never see personal growth, just a "oh well that's who I am" mentality, which is wrong. I loved that we would see her throw herself a pity party but then five minutes later get up dust herself off and hold her head high as she walked through the mud. I absolutely loved her character and her drive to be more than just a girl from a small town who lived in a trailer.
I loved that Ginger Scott made Reed human, instead of some super god who is a flawless alpha male that we see so often in books with awesome athletic lead male characters. In the beginning he was just a boy who was trying to fit in, but by the end of the book, after many mistakes and trials he was a man full of good character and purpose. Many times he was a jerk but Nolan never toke his crap and always called him out on it..
Mrs. Scott was spot on, in my book, on the development of Nolan and Reed’s relationship. It was slow, and meaningful, and intense when it finally happened. I cannot really find the right words to describe their dating relationship and their friendship other than just real and sweet. Nolan never gave up when Reed was being a jerk and when he came to his senses she didn’t play mind games with him but she made it known she wasn’t going to let him walk all over her.
There was plenty of drama and none of the characters where perfect human beings but everyone of them learned from their mistakes and matured from them and they all became better people because of them.
Waiting on the Sidelines was far from boring or slow. It is packed with real people with real problems. Ginger Scott is an excellent indie writer and deserves some recognition for this series. I recommend this book 100%! Read it and you’ll love it just like I do!
Edit 12/22/15 - I just read this book for the third time and it still hasn't gotten old!

This was a loooong, well written coming of age read. I nearly didn't read this once I realised how young the mc's were. This starts of when they are 14 and portrays their relationship over 4 years. I have to say that while I'm so far from 15 it's not even funny, this brought back memories of me angsting over my super crush. This was often a frustrating read because that old chestnut 'misunderstanding', was a too often used ploy. Still it kept me reading every word, even when the minute detail of the life, longings and angst were a bit too much.
