This book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

Good book, but the scientific areas get drawn out in great detail. I will never remember how a crime lab processes evidence nor do I need to know the entire process.

Jane Rizzoli is a great character, a bit of nice romance, suspenseful, a bit sick. I didn't like to read it before bed.

Engaging and suspenseful. Not as good as The Bone Garden, but I'd read another of Gerritsen's books.

"Damaged women" redux... Review of #1 in series, which details my aversion to Gerritsen's misogynistic portrayal of women.

Ick. The writing is solid as always, but the subject matter is too dark for me. Pass.

I did enjoy my chat with the author where we discussed books I liked better than this one. Listen in here: https://soundcloud.com/allthebooks/author-interview-tess-gerritsen

It's summer again, and a new body's been found just outside of the Boston precinct. Korsak calls Rizzoli, believing as she does this has something to do with the Surgeon--even though he's behind bars. Even though she knows he's behind bars, the way everything is laid out at the crime scene convinces her that he's involved somehow.

Too bad no one else believes that. Convinced Jane is obsessed with the Surgeon, Special Agent Dean of the FBI tries to get her removed from the case. But even when their stake-out is blown, Jane is determined to find the man they're calling the Dominator.

Before they know it, the Surgeon escapes from prison to join his new partner. And Jane Rizzoli was right from the beginning.

Yes, I keep flashing back to the tv show while reading this book. The pilot episode does cover aspects of both this and the first book in the series. Dr. Isles is in this book, but the women's friendship so apparent in the tv show isn't very distinct here. That's ok--what unfolds chapter by chapter is enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Hard to put down and engrossing.
