I think u have to push past the search for reason when reading lispector (which is in no way a criticism just a comment). I seriously enjoyed the poetic language in this one, perhaps more so than near to the wild heart because it was shorter. Despite being short in length it managed to fit in large ideas about life, god, insignificance, and existentialism. I also loved the narrator's anxiety and self-consciousness in writing, it reminded me of my own writing experience.
