i only have the tenderest of pity for macabea. a really excellently executed tragedy.

what an odd little book. it was quite funny and i'm going to need to spend some time thinking on, well, all of it lol. the way she writes (which i believe is portrayed fairly well in this translated version such that it remains faithful to the original text) has such an interesting, stream-of-consciousness-esque style! it was overall a somewhat sad story but the humor made it very engaging and enjoyable all the same! i'd like to read more of lispector's work 👀

I enjoyed that so much. Gotta love a weird unreliable narrator who suffers from existential agony. He couldn't help but keep going back to himself. The story isn't about you dude! Good shit though.
