Very quick read, interesting plots. Don't be deceived by the teaser- this book offers so much more than expected! Not overly gory and I person wouldn't classify it as a "horror" like my local library did, but still features some believable and recognizable supernatural elements! Definitely written to drive you to finish, some great twists and a few cliff-hangers. Worth the read and a few days of your life!

I was intrigued by the consept of a woman with dementia seeing her long since dead friend, and how it would tie into a cult. Unfortunately the description of the book got me interested in a story I didnt really get. The first fifth were about people I had no clue how would tie into the description that had caught my attention, and I honestly couldnt care less about them, just plowing trough it to get to Dennie. But when we finally got around to her I just couldnt help but wish that the cult was a mystery we unraveled with her, instead of already having all the answers, knowing what was real and not, so the dementia part didnt really build an unreliable narrator, as much as a frustrated and confused woman who always knew less than the reader. I dont think the book is nessesarily bad, it was just not the book I was promised, and it kept annoying me and making me wish for a story closer to the actual synopsis.

Whoooooo! This book… This book will make you utter ‘fucks’ and ‘oh nos’ and ‘ughs’ like no other.

Bone Harvest is not your regular wham-bam-thankyou-mam horror where everything goes to pot quickly in a singular line with zero crossroads, making it a perfect drugstore horror shelf filler. Oh no. Bone Harvest is a folk horror you invest in. You give it your time and attention as it steadily, persistently and consistently excavates all the feels from your soul through your eyes. Yes, god damn it, I hate cannibalism elements- it’s the only thing that will forever make me so very queasy, but with this small caveat (and the fact cannibalism occurs only a handful of times *shudders*)- what is there NOT to love in this book? It’s a dirty little secret of nearly 500 pages filled with ancient mystery, historical and mystical air weaving its tendrils through modern day disbelief and it stands solid on a folktale. I mean, folktales are always somewhat the ‘unreliable narrators’ – sure, there’s probably a lot added for the passing it forward generation to generation around a campfire or what have you. But also- the story has to get its weight from somewhere, right?
