I really do love the ending to this book. And the decision by Blunt still hits you in the chest. And I love the reoccurring character.

I’ve grown up with these books, the movie (and now the new tv show!) and I love this world of a young teenage spy! I always find the authors writing, plots and overall story absolutely amazing and this book was no exception. It made for effortless reading, edge of the seat stuff and I’m so glad I picked up these books again. The adventures of Alex Rider, kickass teenage spy working for MI6, cool gadgets and exciting missions. Couldn’t ask for more!

This book was my introduction to the Alex Rider series and what a fun series it is, with adventure, humor, and action throughout. Alex becomes a teen spy for M16, the British intelligence agency, after his uncle, an operative, is killed. In this book, Alex goes undercover at an isolated school for troubled boys to discover the link between two murders. He finds armed guards, secretive staff, protected rooms and no way out. It takes all his skill, and the help of some cool gadgets, for Alex to beat these bad guys.

Book 2 reread. Not bad and held up to my memories of being superior to Stormbreaker. The villians were better in this book and, yet again, Horowitz has proven to be a short and sweet type of writer which I am realizing I don't mind. He's very detailed focus and doesn't wax eloquent when it comes to emotions. He states Alex frame of mind and the story is very present focused. Again the story suffers from being dated (released 2001) but overcomes that with some great solid action and tense believable spy action. Can't wait to reread Skeleton Key. I remember liking that one.

This is #2 in the Alex Rider series which I read first. It was a very entertaining and quick read. It’s not very realistic, but it does make for good adventure reading and the book kept my interest all the way through to the last hand-to-hand battle.

A good summer read.

Continued reading the series as the whole school seemed to be, and my friend and I enjoyed them. This one reminded me of the Roger Moore Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me which began with the crazy skiing, shooting enemies from his ski pole that doubled-up as a rifle and the giant Union Jack parachute which deployed as he went off the cliff at the end of the chase. The snowy mountains and the skiing in them both appealed to me, and both played in my mind on my own skiing trips as a child, fancying myself as either Alex Rider, or James Bond, himself.
