Nice follow-up to the first Alex Rider book, but like that book the story is simple and linear. The bad guy's explanation did not come as a surprise after some events early in the book. The 'training' part felt largely unncessary, and feels strangely unresolved at the end of the book as there is no link back to it. Though that perhaps was not strictly needed.

This series just keeps getting better! Now I just need to read the next 7, haha.

A fun, quick young adult novel. A little too short.

Yes, Alex is basically a superhero who can do no wrong, but do I mind?

Content warnings for future me:
Spoiler-character asks if two other characters are sleeping together
-cloning and its inevitable morality issues (specifically, it's okay/right to kill the clones of an evil man)

Another great adventure. The plot of this one moved a lot faster than Stormbreaker, I guess saving time through Alex already being aquatinted with MI6 at this point. I see why the Prime series used this plot to start off the show, it's got a lot more visual action spread throughout the narrative. I am remembering how much I hated Alan Blunt as a character as well, he's basically as bad as the villains Alex faces. Blackmail is not the way to build loyalty, then again that was never Blunt's intention. But i'm also remembering why I loved this series so much the first time around. The writing is very engaging, very action packed, but descriptive enough to ground the settings and really provide a good sense of what is going on even if its happing very quickly.

Student Review:
*Point Blank was very good. It fits in many categories of which could be very interesting to many. These categories include but are not limited to: Sci Fi, Realistic Fiction, Mystery, Action, and Adventure. It is a good choice for many and will not let you down. Everyone loves a good scare or book, and this is a good book. It has lots of good action fights and death scenes, and it is very mysterious. It has many investigations integrated into this book. Even if it is a spy/mystery book, it includes a lot of other genres which makes it special. The action is amazing. It is about a kid named Alex Rider. He is now a spy. One day, someone known as The Gentleman killed Mr. Roscoe. His boss wanted him to find out why, and he thought it all lied at Point Blank academy. With much action and mystery, he finds out the secret. But what this secret could mean only he could find out. Read this book to see what happens. –Varun J., 6th grade 16-17
