Dragon Slippers has been one of my very favorite books since I was ten years old. It’s so far back that I don’t remember how I got my hands on my original copy, but it had been read so many times that the pages were yellowed and the spine was falling apart in my hands. A few years ago, a family member gifted me new copies of the trilogy with their new cover designs, and I have finally decided to sit down and reread them. I am in my twenties now, and still this book fills me with the same wonder, enjoyment, and awe that it did the very first time. I adore the characters, the writing style, and the magic. When I am under the weather, this is the book that I turn to to lift my spirits. Dragon Slippers will always have a very special place in my heart.

I liked it. A bit too mushy at some parts.

This was cute. Not really much other than that, though I did find it enjoyable to read.

Creel's aunt tells her to go get herself kidnapped by a dragon so that a knight (or someone else suitable) will rescue and have to marry her. Creel, understandably, does not enjoy the idea and instead bargains with the dragon to let her leave with a pair of slippers from the dragon's hoard. She then makes her way to the king's city, where she's determined to become a dressmaker. Along the way she meets a couple more dragons, a couple princes, a horrid princess, and a conspiracy that threatens not only the kingdom, but the dragons as well.

The main character is determined and is rather decent all around. Granted, it frustrated me when there was obviously something special about her slippers and she only found out about them when it was too late, but it wasn't entirely her fault.

There are no real twists to the plot. Or, rather, it's all fairly typical, though a rather feel good book. It's decent. Not particularly awe inspiring, but a quick pleasure to read. 3 stars.

This was one of my favorite books I read as a child and I think it still holds up well as an adult. A very sweet and interesting tale about a girl who befriends dragons and ends up with a very unusual pair of shoes. This book will also make you want to learn embroidery.

Reminded me of Patricia Wrede's "Dealing with Dragons," and Gail Carson Levine's "Fairest." This was a fun story to read. The main character of this story cares more of her ambitions than marrying nobility. She loves to design fashions and is talented at it. Part of the plot to get her married off involves dragons. However, but in the end it is her friendship with dragons and her ambitions that drive the story.
