This has been on my to-read list pretty much the moment I first heard about it. And I'm glad I read it, there are any authors in here that I am unfamiliar with & even as someone who kind of hates horror films, reading things through the queer lens always gives me a deeper appreciation. That being said-- I am not the target audience here, this is definitely an anthology for horror buffs who are lovingly familiar with the films, the tropes, and the genre.

My favorite essays are "The Demon Girl's Guide To Life" by S. Trimble on The Exorcist (which almost makes me want to watch the movie even though I know it will scare me), and "Both Ways" by Carmen Maria Machado on Jennifer's Body. This essay might actually be my favorite take EVER on Jennifer's Body.

Although I (naturally) didn’t connect with each chapter I did enjoy reading almost all of them, without having seen most of these movies. Can’t imagine what it must be like if you’ve seen all of them
