Am Schreibstil kann man hier nicht meckern. Mit Leichtigkeit entführt der Autor den Leser in die postapokalyptische Metro, die Metaphern und bildliche Sprache sind wie im ersten Band außerordentlich gut gelungen.
Aber, und ich kann mich den vielen anderen Revies da nur anschließen, die Tatsache, dass wir hier nicht mehr Artjoms Geschichte (bzw. in nur sperrlichen Abschnitten) verfolgen, sondern Homer und Sascha kennenlernen, nimmt einem schon ziemlich dem Spaß am Lesen.
Gerade als jemand, der wirklich begeistert von der Forsetzung Metro - Last Light war, und sich erhofft hatte, dass die Geschichte in Metro sich mehr mit den Dunklen beschäftigte, war ich ziemlich enttäuscht von der Handlung und den Figuren.
Besonders an Sascha konnte ich nur wenig sympathisch finden. Die Tatsache, dass eine Frau als handelnde Figur eingeführt wurde, gerade etwas, dass mir sehr in Metero 2033 fehlte(!), machte mich anfangs sehr glücklich! Aber die Umsetzung ging schon ein wenig nach hinten los. Gerade weil sie als die "Heilende" für Hunter funktionerte/funktionieren sollte.
Tatsächlich fand ich Leonid zu Beginn interessant, aber zusammenfassend hätte man sich diese Figur vermutlich auch sparen können.
Das Lesen hat trotzdem Spaß gemacht und ich hoffe, dass der Nachfolger besser ist.

Nur kurz vor seinem Tod hat er eine für die Handlung wichtige Rolle gespielt, aber dass er nur da war, um Sascha in die Irre zu führen und dann zurückzubringen, weil er sich plötzlich ändern will? Man hätte das alles vermutlich auch einfach rausnehmen können, ohne einen Einfluss auf die Geschichte zu haben.Das Lesen hat trotzdem Spaß gemacht und ich hoffe, dass der Nachfolger besser ist.

Tämä ei ollut yhtä hyvä kuin edellinen osa. Takakannessa luvataan kertoa mitä tapahtui Hunterille, joten oletin kirjan kertovan pääasiassa Hunterista. Enemmän pääosassa olikin vanha Homeros, joka haluaa kirjoittaa suuren tarinan, ja juuri isänsä menettänyt, eristyksissä elänyt tyttö Sasa. Kirjassa oli hyviäkin hetkiä, mutta ei se samalla tavalla pitänyt otteessaan kuin Metro 2033.

despite only being somewhat connected to the last book, this does everything right in its additions to the metro world. a great story with super fleshed out characters, who have all been warped by the new life humanity leads underground. such as the seventeen year old girl who has only existed in the metro (and as an exile at that!) and has a supremely screwy sense of her place in the world. and thats great! none of the characters are even close to perfect people, they're just random people who became unwilling participants in a game beyond their control.
Painfully dull read. The rating should be 1 star but giving it 2 just because the world of Metro is still awesome. I actively disliked each character (especially the proverbial Virgin Mary) in this sequel and the story made no sense until the end where all the strings actually were gathered up nicely. Still, that doesn't make up for 340 or so pages of mind numbingly pointless chapters and pretentiously lyrical sentence structures.

OKAY ANYWAY it was a bit better than the first book. Quicker pace, more plot and less monologue, interesting new characters. As in the first book, the monologues were amazing. The author does such a great job describing his views and thoughts on morality and people. I hate that we didn't see Artyom much, I really wanted to know more about him. Complexity of Hunter's character was enjoyable to read and Homer offered a great contrast to Hunter's character. All in all a good but kinda boring and slow read.

Look, this isn't as stellar as Metro 2033. It doesn't fill me with nearly the same emotions, nor the same sleepless nights, nor the same "HOLY FUCK THIS NEEDS TO BE READ" feeling. But by the same token, it is still set in Glukhovsky's dynamic world, and it still has the same long, discursive passages on the nature of humanity, so this is never going to get a disastrous rating. It may not have had the same magic, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy diving back into that world.
